Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese form of medicine that activates the body’s own ability to balance and heal. Acupuncture is effective, low-cost, non-invasive and used worldwide. Acupuncture is based on the principle that the body is a system of rivers called meridians. The energy flowing in the rivers is called qi (pronounced “chee”). When all the rivers are flowing freely, there is health, and when blockages occur in the river, there is illness. Acupuncture is a gentle way of opening all the rivers so that self-healing can occur.
The roots of acupuncture are ancient, yet its use is applicable and relevant for today’s health care needs and problems. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes for Health (NIH) recognize acupuncture as an effective treatment for many conditions.
Acupuncture addresses the root cause of illness. Much of our modern medicine is focused on alleviating symptoms. However, each symptom is merely an indication that something in our lifestyle is out of balance. If we mask the symptom and continue the lifestyle, our intelligent bodies will find another–and perhaps louder–way of getting our attention. By utilizing a more natural approach to healing and finding the underlying cause of symptoms, you can create a relationship with your body where you are in control of your own health.
